At present I use McAfee. One of the things I like about it is that I can block specific ports under the Ports and System Services sub-menu of the firewall: in particular the ones related to Plug and Play and Remote Access..

However, as the new GUI has messed things up and no longer shows the Ports and System Services sub-menu and the McAfee technical team does not know what is wrong and is investigating, I am thinking of installing another Internet Security/Antivirus package.

The question is: Does anyone know or have any experience of a package that will allow me to block specific ports?

    Thank you for your help

    Further to my post above.

I have ‘found’ Kaspersky Anti-Virus and notice that under Settings, Additional, Network, “Monitor selected ports only” there is a list of ports with ‘Active’ to the right of each of them. I can either ‘Disable’ or ‘Remove’ each one.

What is the effective difference between these actions?

    Thanks for information.
