    Hello,
I would like to know, what free firewall apps out there that can display an listing of incoming traffic IP addresses, and also let you write specific rules to block incoming traffic?

I have tried a program called Private Firewall, but its GUI is very confusing.
It seems it lets me write rules for specific applications only (?). I don't see a way to write a rule for all cases, regardless if it's tied to an application or not.

Another confusing aspect of Private Firewall is that I don't know if an application is being blocked from running on my computer, or if it's being blocked from accessing the Internet. It's just a confusing mess.

    Thanks

Zone Alarm free will actually do this? You can Block under Zones. Also Comodo firewall will do this.

    Thanks for the reply.

I took a quick look at ZoneAlarm, but I didn't like the fact they don't distribute an offline installer.
    Seems fishy to me.

I also have a strong dislike for Comodo, since it bricked my Windows 7 installation during a security update,
(gave me a black screen of death) and I had to re-install the entire operating system again.
Any installer over 100MB seems like bloatware to me, anyway.

I am also against any firewall apps that try to sell you subscription-based services. They are like vampires.
