Looking to update the BIOS, to install new GPU: Lenovo K320 'Lenovo has no available updates. My BIOS date is 06/08/2010, 5LKT42A Lenovo support gave MB pt # 11011072 mfg Foxconn, also the tag on the MB 00111011504, I also found on MB 90FBA69C9435 CPUID: i7-860, 2.8Ghz, socket 1156 LGA, 45nm, Lynnfield, CPUID from BIOS: 106e5 ___________ CPU-Z has a link to Biosagentplus, anyone use this, is it legit. Or any other BIOS updaters. SCAM & poor reviews
If there are no BIOS updates from Lenovo, I would not force one on it. It is not uncommon for the big makers to use custom setups. Are you sure the current one does not support that GPU? Normally it is not the graphics solution that matters, but the CPU or RAM.
Not sure, I'll call Lenovo & ask. The Bios date is from 2010! Hope that's the case CPU or RAM not GPU
It used it years ago, it indicated that there was a BIOS update for my computer. However, after I purchased it and ran a scan, it didn't actually find a BIOS update for my laptop, it only found driver updates.
Quick search came up with only negative comments, nothing good. @Bill_Bright Spoke with Lenovo support, there concerns were: PSU - too small, got that covered, EVGA gold 550W MB - the pcie16 slot is version 2.0, this is not an issue: 1. My ancient Gateway 32 bit machine has PCIE 16 ver 2.0 & I plugged in the GTX 750 Ti which wants PCIE ver 3.0 And concerns for the monitor LCD, it won't have a monitor __________ Sounds like I'm good to go. When used more traditionally (games etc), it's not a good fit, but for FAH should be fine, right
PCIe is backwards compatible so if you get a PCIe 3.0 card, it will work in a PCI 2.0 slot. But like all such compatibilities, performance will be limited by the slowest links.
In case the system BIOS or OS needs a monitor to boot you can create a dummy plug. https://rumorscity.com/2013/12/06/how-to-create-dummy-plugs-for-your-graphics-cards/ Panagiotis
