I have 3 computers, one of them is quite old and I use it from time to time. It is powered by Windows 7(x32). I have some bootable CD/DVDs I used with no problem (until some two years ago) on this PC only. The PC has a DVD drive This week I tried to boot using various DVDs, I’ve got the command “Press any key to boot from the CD, DVD”. After clicking, the PC boots, each time, from the internal HD. I used a usb portable DVD drive, got same problems. I have also a Ventoy usb I mounted this week on this PC. The PC boots from this usb. I can see all the added ISO files (the Ventoy menue). But when trying to select an ISO program, the same problem occurred except with the Hasleo rescue disc and with the Strelec one (eventhough this is a x64 application). Most of the applications mounted on the Strelec booted smoothly. From the Explorer (within the Strelec) I can reach the backup programs installed in the C drive and open them. Is there a problem with the BIOS? As I mentioned I had not this issue two/three years ago (i.e. the last time I booted from this PC using a bootable DVD).
Hi Brian Yes I used the F12 bot menu I used also the F2 to see the BIOS in order to make the DVD the first option with every attempt and different DVD's I got the “Press any key to boot from the CD, DVD” without success Remark: When booting using the F12 boot menu with the Ventoy (or Medicat) usb stick I got a frozen menu of the program. When booting using the Esc key, with above usb's the PC boots and I can navgiate thru the usb menu. as I mentioned in my previous thread I had not this problem aprox. two years ago.
