I consider disabling DNS Client, NetBIOS and all network protocols, but IPv4, as a basic security setup.

Would DNSCrypt take care of this?

Depends if you trust the DNS addresses provided by DNSCrypt, also if your VPN doesn't push its own DNS, then you should be looking for a subscription somewhere else.... as an alternative, maybe give a DNS Proxy a try, such as Acrylic. It also seems to be able to circumvent the "www.download.windowsupdate.com" telemetry crap... but it is a band-aid solution at best (eg: trying to silence the system you are running by installing stuff on the system itself).

Does anyone think their ISP cannot already track every site that passes though their network anyway? Someone is going to find out people browse lolcats and facebook... and if they want to watch you, this should be the least of anyone's concerns.

Every time there is a new version of Windows there are a bazillion articles about how invasive it is, yet when the next Windows comes out the previous version becomes ok... I'm still trying to decide if it's funny...

The management at work all have Facebook accounts to see what the employees are saying about them and yet the employees all have facebook accounts which I find funny.
I just got a offer from my ISP in today's mail to sell me a ISP brand cell phone now they can my track my call's too.

Yeah, I am not so much worried about the privacy issues as I am about the inconsistent behavior and bugs in 10. I've done a clean install several times now for various reasons, and each time I get different results. Sometimes updates fail, sometimes not. Once the start menu and taskbar items wouldn't respond or work. Just various odd glitches and issues. Once wifi didn't connect and I couldn't reconnect it until I rebooted. Just weird stuff like that. I think they mostly just need to spend some time cleaning it up before they add anything further.

Interesting. It is mostly working fine on the machine I have upgraded. There is 1 that when I open File Explorer and click something in the window it immediately closes and reopens again. Haven't figured out why, or found anyone else with the problem.

LOL. The boss where I work watches everyone on Facebook to see if anyone is logging on during work hours...

Yes, I would say 10 has been working pretty well for me too. I have less issues even considering the few bugs, than I have with 7 now. I found 8.1 pretty good and cleaned up too.

Correct, but this was about VPN users being at risk.
