    Hey,

I'm about to put a new 2008 R2 server into production and I'm a little frightened to be honest after hearing the horror stories of 4.x on 2k8 R2 randomly locking etc. This isn't an option considering it's going to be a crucial RDS box.

What is the most stable version I can put on this box??

    Feedback would be appreciated.

I'd say version 3 but want it or not officially ESET NOD32 version 3 is not supported on Windows 2008 server , so have to use the latest v4.2 if you want ESET.

Only issue I have with using 4.2 is that people have said it randomly locks up, I simply can't have that happen!

Anyone got 4.2.64.12 in production on 2k8 R2 with good results?

You can either go with VIPRE 4.0 or IKarus .. I have tested both of them on my Windows Server 2008 R2 and both worked pretty well ... :)

We currently have seven 2k8 R2 machines running. A couple are still on 4.0, the others are on 4.2 (.40/.64).

Honestly, other than yesterday's definition snafu, I haven't had any problems with NOD interfering with the systems at all.

I have version 4.0.474 installed on a single production Windows 2008 R2 x64 machine and it has never locked up with the Win2k8/ESET lockup issue. It's been running for about 6 months now.

On our Windows 2008 (non R2) servers I have version 3.0.695 as version 4.0.x was locking them up quite often.

I'll throw on 4.2.64 and see what happens.. I do feel a lot better knowing you guys have had success running it.

What exceptions do you have configured? (particularly if any are a terminal server)

Every exception recommended by ESET (there is a KB article with it) and all exceptions on Microsoft's KB article for Anti-Virus exceptions. A couple google searches will pull this KB's up for you.
