zone alarm uses lot of resources and memory. u can also try

kerio it is light on resources and memory
  4. With Z.A. I've heard many complaints of uninstall issues...and even it "calling home"

Netveda so far as I know has no uninstall problems.

It features great logging....filters...adaptable to many different sitituations,
from standalone PC solo family usage...lans etc.

The more I get used to it....the more impressed I get.

JW is right, Zone Alarm pro doesnt have half or any of the wonderful LAN access or content filtering features of NetVeda, also NetVeda free has ICS/NAT, router as well as other support, adding many networks as well as connections is a breeze with it.
