Best DNS for XBox Online

    How can I find out which would be the best DNS for Xbox online? Is there a DNS ping tool or something? I have random spikes online.

    Hello Infected:

    "Best" is really too vague. Many start with IP = 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 (IPv4) and then later improve upon Google's Nameserver.

    If you are looking for speed only, run Steve Gibson's https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm. Most frequently though, the fastest is with your own ISP.

    If you are looking for privacy/safety, that is an entirely different question. https://www.opendns.com/about/innovations/dnscrypt/

    Will you be entering the prospective DNS Nameserver IP addresses in the Xbox or in a router/gateway?

    I have Google dns entered into both my Xbox and router. I'm looking just for latency reduction.

    No one can suggest which DNS is best for you for whatever purpose.

    Gibson's DNSbench does report on latency.

    Another good tool is Network Latency Tool by Nirsoft.
