I am looking for a file search program (ideally open source) that will allow me to search for files (primarily word ) across a LAN. I would like to search not just in the name but also within the docs.
I am using Copernic (an older version) but it seems it sometimes does not fully index every file. If I have to rely on my memory, it kind of defeats the purpose. No need for web integration or fancy toolbars and ideally I would prefer a small program does not eat up lots of resources.

    Any suggestions :doubt:

    I use "Everything"
    http://www.voidtools.com/
Very very fast, light and it doesn't need to run in background because it indexes files nearly instant at program launch. The latest beta version is 1.2.1.451a

    Thanks guys,

    I will give locate32 a try -

Everything won't work for me as it doesn't search within content, only in file and folder names.

@ Boyfriend - everything does not search within the contents as I pointed out before

@Rules - seems that ultrasearch does not allow to search across the LAN but only on local drives
