dual band means it has dual radios so it can transmit on both 2.4g and 5g. it in no way means it will be twice as fast there are way to many factors involved to say that will happen. 5g is faster than 2.4 but has shorter range and you also have to have an adapter capable of using the 5g band.

i personally dont like the wd router much at all and yes i have used it. the wd being a "n900" means it is a three stream router but again you have to have three stream adapters to even utilize that like the intel 6300 etc. and even then you are NOT guaranteed to get close to that 450mb speed they claim.

a suggestion i could make is newegg has the wndr3700 refurbished for under 60$ and its a really nice router for that price.

I recently purchased a refurbished Netgear WNDR3700v2 and am very happy with it.
