    Hi

I'm having BAD Experience with Malware Bytes Anti Malware (the company and the program)

I feel like a bought a program for resident protection but have to manually update it to keep the protection valid!!

i contacted customer support and got some replies that would make you cringe. they give support a bad name.

so i posted on their forum and was given advice to completely uninstall and reinstall on both pcs, and was offered my money back.

its been insane and really made me stressed

IS THERE A BETTER ALTERNATIVE TO MBAM?

    The program

I have the 2x paid version of MBAM on a pc and a laptop.
I can't configure the auto updates to "RUN IF MISSED"
if they are missed they don't appear to run .

    •they update manually
•they run if the Pc or laptop is running sometimes
•but if the PC is not ON at the time of the update they miss the update

    set to daily
recover if missed by 23 hours (then i tried set to zero hours)

    i have read the post
    http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=45177

no info on the run if missed

but there is no info on the recover if missed setting or the repeat every
setting. What do these functions do? should it be set to zero or 24 to ensure i'm up to date?

i cant make the update run if missed, ie RUN WHEN I BOOT THE PC or
    laptop

also there is no way of editing the schedules i have already created, because having to totally recreate the new version to try settings is really a pain

My preference is MBAM but an alternative is SuperAntiSpyware, Check and see if you can trial the full version before purchase. http://superantispyware.com/

If you have a default schedule setup then it Mbam should update after an hour has expired since turning the machine on. Does that not happen? What OS are running and if Vista and later check if the Mbam schedule is also listed in Windows Task scheduler (as it offers an more options)

You could just make a batch file to run
    Code:
    "C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe" /update
and put it in your Startup folder and it will run an update whenever you start.
Or create a schedule task and run it whenever you want.

Are you running any IP blocklists as for some reason the server used by MBAM is blocked, dont take that as being bad Im pretty paroniod, so if you are running a blocklist try turning it off then try the update

i think its something to do with MBAM "recover if missed by setting"

sometimes it updates sometiems it doesn't

I've moaned to them about it. and someone else had a similar problem, so hopefully they'll sort it out

their customer service is pretty sketchy though. it's like you get an instant reply but its not very helpful. I'd rather Malware Bytes took a minute and answered the questions properly. If you know what i mean. i asked why they hadn't got info on the new features

    they said

    pretty annoying:mad:

but the fact is...the MBAM updates don't run if missed..........

hey I'm cool, I'll let them sort it out and check for updated manually from time to time.

super anti spyware spotted a couple of things MBAM didn't so its been a bonus

cheers for the input about updates/alternatives
