    Hi everybody,

    I've bought Acronis True Image Home 2009 a couple of weeks ago and while the program seems to work ok, one of the backuptasks keeps failing. I've already sent this problem to Acronis support, but since I didn't get any response, I will try here ;)
    I am trying to make a full backup of my computer to my ftp-server at another location. The task is scheduled to start early in the morning and it does run for a number of hours until it fails and send the following e-mail:

    Code:
    1 Information 21-7-2009 1:30:02 Operation computer full backup started.
    2 Information 21-7-2009 1:30:04 Analyzing partition 0-0...
    3 Information 21-7-2009 1:30:05 Analyzing partition C:...
    4 Information 21-7-2009 1:30:05 Analyzing partition 0-0...
    5 Information 21-7-2009 1:30:06 Analyzing partition D:...
    6 Information 21-7-2009 1:30:07 Create Incremental Backup Archive From: Disk 1 To file: "ftp://backup.xplicare.com/pc/pc_image.tib" Compression: High File Split: 650 MB Description: "Volledige systeembackup van PC naar Xplicare FTP-server. "
    7 Information 21-7-2009 1:30:07 Pending operation 138 started: "Creating partition image"
    8 Information 21-7-2009 1:30:07 Locking partition C:...
    9 Error 21-7-2009 6:32:32 Operation with partition "0-0" was terminated.
    Details:
    Write error (0x70004)
    Tag = 0x9D2DE1F088CBC4D5
    Error writing the file. (0x40003)
    Tag = 0x74C96BD8D1217ED8
    10 Error 21-7-2009 6:32:32 Operation has completed with errors.
    I've gotten this failure every day, most of the time around 6:31 in the morning (not always, but still).
    The task runs on a standard desktop with Windows XP pro and the latest version of True Image.
    Can anybody help me solve this error? Thank in advance.

    Arjan

    EDIT:
    I thought I was running the latest build (9770 (may 29), according to my registered product page), but according to the updates page the latest version is 9796 (june 30). Why can't I download that version!? :-(

    Hello Arjan,

    Thank you for using Acronis True Image

    To resolve the issue please do the following:

    * Increase timeout for idle control connection in the settings of FTP server;
    * Set the size value in Archive splitting settings to 200 MB (Tools -> Options -> Default backup options).

    See if the issue remains and let us know the results.

    Thank you.

    Hi mr Lee and GroverH,

    Thank you for your replies, I'll try altering the settings.
    GroverH; I know that registered customers (I am) can download the latest update from the Acronis website. My point is that when I log in, I can only download build 9770, not 9796. What's even more strange; now I can't see updates for the home version anymore. When I click https://www.acronis.co.uk/homecomputing/support/updates/ I get kicked back to https://www.acronis.co.uk/support/updates/index.html (the corporate updates).
    Something's wrong on the Acronis website :oops:

    Maybe 9770 is the latest UK version, and 9796 is the latest US version? Since you have UK serial number, it won't work with US build.

    Yesterday I set the archive split to 200MB and changed the timeout of my FTP-server (timeout set to 1 hour, proFTPd on Ubuntu 9.04 server). Alas, I still got an error e-mail this morning:

    Code:

    Seems like the same error I got before o_O Anybody got any suggestions what to do next?

    Hello Xplicare,

    Thank you for using Acronis True Image Home 2009

    First of all I would recommend you check the disks for errors in the following way:

    - Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)
    - Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r" (where DISK is the partition letter you need to check) for every partition that is visible in My Computer. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

    Best regards,

    Hi everybody,

    Ok, I made the archive split size even smaller (100 MB) and performed a check of the hard disk with chkdsk.
    Alas, the same error message this morning :(
    More suggestions, please. There must be a way to debug this.

    Hello Xplicare,

    Thank you for using Acronis True Image Home 2009

    Try reducing the backup speed in terms of network connection:

    1. Click "Tools" and select "Options";
    2. Click "Network connection speed" and reduce it by half.

    Acronis True Image needs at least 2 simultaneous inbound connections to a Windows network share: Data connection and Control connection.

    Windows XP Home Basic and Windows Vista Home Basic limit the number of simultaneous inbound connections to 5.

    Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate limit the number of simultaneous inbound connections to 10.

    Windows Server operating systems do not have a limitation on the inbound connections.

    To see how many inbound connections are attempting to access the shared folder, do the following:

    1. Click Start -> Run and type in COMPMGMT.MSC;
    2. Click System Tools -> Shared Folders -> Sessions.

    Best regards,
