    Hello folks,
I'm planning on buying ATI 10 Home edition, but before i do that, i wanted to clarify a few things. (pls excuse me if this has been discussed earlier, but i couldn't find any similar topics)

Now what i have here is a single SATA HDD (160GB - 5 Partitions).
What i'd like to do is to backup my system drive (C:\ - XP pro) ONLY and save it to a DVD. Then whenever needed (which is quite often actually! :p ) i could copy the image files to my HDD (same hdd, but different partition) and restore the system partition, leaving the rest of the partitions intact. Now is this possible? the reason i'm asking this is because i read somewhere that when restoring, TI deletes all the partitions, which i DO NOT want.

    Thanx,
    kilroy.

    kilroy,

Yes that's certainly possible. I'd write the C: drive image to a partition on your HD and leave the image in that partition as you plan frequent restores. You may have to write it in DVD size splits if it is greater than 4480 MB. Copy the image to DVD for safe-keeping in case the HD fails.

When it's time to restore, the other 4 partitions aren't altered. Only the C: drive changes.

It's basically how I run mine. I have multiple partitions on two HDs and I only image and restore the C: drive. I backup my data partitions by copying files to the second HD.

    kilroy,
What are your restore plans if your disk fails? Do you have backups of your other partitions?

    Hi Grover,
I'm in the process of backing up all the data on the other partitions, but that's just a direct burn thingy, no imaging using TI. So all i needed was a backup of my OS. I was fed up of re-installing XP all the time, so i wanted to make a backup of a clean install with updates, which i can then restore when required.

I wanted to back up my C drive and repartition it larger. I made the recovery disk, and made the ***.tib file, saved it to a separate partition on my hard drive. Now I have tried restoring the image several times. It looks like it has finished the restore, but when I exit ATI, the pc reboots and comes up with the error message: Interupted Operation: Insert Recovery CD or other recovery media and reboot pc.

Is there a fix for this, or just lose my previous install and reinstall windows?
