    I just installed Acronis True Image 10 Home on my Dell Dimension computer using Windows XP Pro and I when I try to make a backup of my computer c: drive to Maxtor USB One Touch II drive using maximum compression creating a new full backup of approx. 17gb it goes to the page showing the progress of the backup and nothing happens except it says "preparing". I wait 45 minutes and still nothing happens. Can anyone help me?

    Try using "Normal" compression which is the default.

    Hello AnthonySilveira,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please make sure that the Acronis Scheduler 2 Service is started and both schedhlp.exe and schedul2.exe processes are running (use Windows Task Manager).

    Please note that you can run the schedhlp.exe and schedul2.exe (\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2) manually in Windows Task Manager (File->New Task) or do the following:

    - Download schedmgr.exe application;

    - Start the Command Prompt from Start -> Programs -> Accessories menu;

    - Run the following command in the folder you saved the file to: schedmgr.exe service start

    Please also see this post for some more details.

    If the problem persists, please follow instructions in this post

    Thank you.

    Same thing. Resolved by rebooting a second time after initial install.

    Happened again on another server. Reboot this time did not work. Solved by booting from the Acronis Recovery CD.
