Can someone explain the differnence between making a back up and an image of a partition or disc. I have got my new laptop running as I want it and would like to be able to revert back to this postition at anytime in the futeure. When reading about how to do this the terms back up and image seem to be used for doing the same thing or am I just being thick?

to revert the whole drive you will need an image of it (either the whole drive or typically partition C). Generally speaking Backup takes cares of folders and files rather than reverting the whole drive

    Hi,

    The terminology is confusing.

Backup can refer to either backing up just files and folders , or backing up a partition ( making a partition Image ).

It is the partition Image you need to create.
