Please implement the whitelist/exclusion asap, is a must have and is quite annoying not having one and won't be able to deal with the false positives

The way it works now with Update 18 and Real-Time protection enabled, if you restore a file, it is not ignored or excluded. It goes right back into quarantine. Download the EICAR test file and give it a spin :)

This was corrected in Update 18.

I believe that this is how Windows Defender functions.

I'm running Windows 10 [1511 Build 10586.545] now with the latest release of Avira Pro [15.0.18.354] with all advanced protection enabled and the updates work fine.

I posted earlier in this thread after 18 was released and commented that it seemed fixed. A couple weeks after I mentioned that, it started flaking out again. My renewal was late July, I opted not to bother.

    Avira Update 19 is out.
    No changelog yet, as always.
    It still silently auto-quarantaines...

Housekeeping day for Avira on my PC!!!

    1. Disabled Launcher
    2. Disabled Avira.ServiceHost.exe

Tried this method Anon mentioned of disabling Avira Launcher today (via Windows Task Manager), and it works very well. Now I have the old Avira notification icon back in view :)

Actually, this was secondary to what I was also trying to do to sort out the Avira.ServiceHost.exe which was constantly making connections to web servers. I have been very annoyed with this overly "chatty" behavior for some time. After spending what seemed like hours with Wireshark and Fiddler, just said the **** with it and disabled the service in Control Panel> Administrative Tools > Services.

To my surprise this did not break anything (yet). The scheduled updates still run like clockwork. Avira no longer makes repeated web connections to various servers, sending and receiving unknown packets of data (to lots of server names related to hosted cloud services like Akamai and Amazon Web -- even saw a few with Facebook in their name). So much for telemetry and marketing BS!!!

I still have cloud protection enabled, as well as Web Protection. Avira now behaves like a normal AV program and only phones home when it really needs to :)

Considere RTM to be a stable release....,with all the limitations, that are still present.
There may be changes, after RTM, but that's normal behavior.

As long as silent auto-quaratiäne is aktiv, I will not accept this, as worth using.

    Right :)

The things that make you go hmmmmm ...

I re-read the Avira privacy policy, and while it details the Avira Protection Cloud function, and the collection of data on your account and how you use their website, etc., it actually says very little about what they collect from your PC.

And I cannot find any opt-outs in the application to decline participation in any community data collection. The Privacy Policy has a few links to web analytics op-outs, but that would not apply to the AV program itself.

Whatever it is, I am sure they are doing it only to provide you with the best possible Avira products and services. :)

    Found another issue:
I installed update 19 and unchecked the box for Email-Protection, nevertheless the installer asked me to enter email credentials...
Although Email-Protection is grayed out in main-screen, the configuration is still there, if you start configurations/general/warnings/email
