    Some of you may be participating in this, as I. I have to admit that if all that Avira is planning, pans out, it will be amazing, period. The Suite will have, hmm,lets just say, this Suite is going to reinvent the meaning of what one is.

    Hopefully I can leak more as we go along but if you are a Avira suite user, some really impressive things are on the way in version 9.:thumb:

    Are there improvments in the firewall??Like autolearn mode or auto mode.Cos the way it is now it sucks.Besides this they need to scan gmail and make the webguard work properly with downloadmanagers.

    Here are the new features explained http://lfie.net/avira-premium-security-suite-v9-beta/

    Does not seem spectacular to me. Avira is one of the best AV's, with below average self protection when running as admin, so stronger self protection will be an improvement. The default ignore option of the on demand guard makes the free version useless IMO. :shifty:

    Does this mean there is a free version of the suite? i.e. if the 'fees' above is a typo and it really means 'free', otherwise the sentence doesn't make much sense :)

    NO, there isnt a free version of the suite.:doubt: But Avira has demonstrated in the past to include into their free and paid AV what they feel is right on staying ahead of the rest of the market.

    im installing this now as i type.. im just hoping they are not going the way of others and they end up making this huge and a system hog.. i really hope it stays nice and light.. honestly i dont want most features of all these huge suites i only want a great av firewall and malware protection. i personally dont care about backup software and perental controls, registry cleaners etc all being built in. im def a avira fan and i hope this will convince me this time to spend the money they want for it.

    I am beta testing the new suite but likely will not use it in the future. That said, I agree with you about lightness. I am using Avira Premium without installing webguard (not necessary) and PC Tools firewall and it runs as light as a feather. I alternate with NOD32 latest build which is even lighter on my box than Avira. No need for me for all the extras a suite offers.

    Avira has a very good AV engine. But IMO the only chinks in the suite is the firewall. A better UI for the firewall, coupled with some HIPS/NIPS would make it a killer suite.

    it's on the beta forum, thread titled new features. You may need to register on the betatest page first.

    @Netherlands, firzen771

    GUI is basically the same as in v8 so far, major changes and improvements are under the hood :)
