Avira Plus SAS?

I installed Avira Premium and PC Tools Firewall Plus. I have been running suites for 2-3 years and am not up on stand alone applications. I don't want to add a lot of applications or complex ones. Not interested in things like Sandboxie.

However, I am wondering if running SAS Pro or MBAM alongside Avira would add anything significantly. I think one of those would be all I would be interested in.

Significantly, no. Use them on-demand if you must. Avira Premium already offers significant signature detection/removal.

IMO you'd be better off to add a behavior based cloud setup such as Prevx. The free version runs in real-time but it doesn't offer complete removal unless you buy the pay version. It also has very little impact on system performance since it is cloud based technology.

Are you using Win Patrol Plus on that system?
I noticed that's in your signature.
If so, I'm not so sure that you need another real-time program.
Just my thought.

 

Good Morning ! Jerry...I'm currently running the identical apps...with the exception of using Prevx 3.0 alongside Avira Premium. The P.C.Tools firewall is a pleasant surprise, it runs smoothly and provides superb protection. I use S.A.S. Pro and Malwarebytes as on demand scanners. So far no complaints. Sincerely...Securon

Yes, I am using Win Patrol Plus. I have used it for years, and like it. Thanks for the comment. I think I will leave SAS on demand for now.

I might consider Prevx. However, I am not very knowledgeable in computers, and hate to complicate things any more than absolutely necessary.

I am behind a NAT router, but of course that would not be the case traveling.

I am really surprised how well PCT firewall plus runs. I have used Kerio 2.1.5 and LnS, and this one runs at least as well as either of those.
