Every Time Avira updates it is from 2 to 5 files at a time.

    trjam,
You change anti-viruses like I change my socks! This morning your avatar was Eset....now it's Avira. You're as bad as I am! ;).

    Later.

I used to change security programs four or five times every two weeks or so. But I finally got smart and realized that the perfect security solution doesn't exist. I finally settled on Avira premium simply because it has great detection and it runs absolutly perfectly on My Vista Home Premium. Sometimes I get a little antsy to try another AV but I always come to my senses and don't do it.;)

The last time that I heard a similar line, an 8 lb. 4 oz. biscuit was being 'baked'! :D

Yeah, it's agreat AV, on the whole, I think I prefer it to NOD. I haven't changed in four months and it'll be on my PC for a while yet, I think.

I actually am on my main partition. I am about to delete the second partition which has Avira on it. I like Avira a lot but McAfee has never let me down either.

I wish Avira would bring back the blue umbrella for one of their product lines. I've always had a thing for blue icons, there's just something about blue that makes me feel good about things.

More realisticly though, I have been proud of Avira over the past year. Even though I am still a NOD32 customer, Avira has been on my radar for a while as a possible replacement should something negative happen with ESET. There's just so much good happenning in the AV world that it's getting harder to pick just one absolute favorite or second.

All of your comments are deserved and I agree.

All I can say is they are finishing a new AVPSS release and in parallel are working on some "nasty" stuff .;)

Yep. Due first of September and Avira will finally protect itself from nasties killing it. And the 49 character limit stuff will be fixed too so we can install it where we want. I have PG protecting Avira but lots of folks are running naked so I'm glad that will be fixed.

A very good post from someone I highly respect. Thanks C, these are the words I need to live by. I became insane with searching for the Holy AV. Find what works well for you and just keep it.

    And for good reason:

"Blue can "slow the pulse rate, lower body temperature, and reduce appetite." Blue is considered a business color because it reflects reliability."

Instead of deleting the partition with Avira on it I decided to keep Avira and deleted the one with McAfee instead. The partitions were almost identical to each other and I really prefer Avira Premium to McAfee.

That is because blue color puts you to sleep...not exactly what a business wants ..an employee that can't stay awake? :D Red is the color of energy and it has the opposite effect from blue and seems to me that is the effect businesses would want...to have their employees awake and alert.
