Do you thinks it's fair, after just purchasing a full license and then discover the free 6 month deal?

I think it's fair unless they are dealing with children. It's simple really. If you dislike the free licences move to a competitor that doesn't hand out free licences. I really don't see the problem. If you just bought a car for a certain price and you signed for it. Then later on the price goes down ill bet you'll flip out right. What if the prices go up. Do you go ask if you can pay extra?

Avira is not well known to the large public. Most people that buy licences support the company so they can stay on top of thinghs and improve.

Actually im glad it isn't included. The webscanner is worthless! Do not wish to pay for that.

why? sometimes malware runs straight from the web before avira has chance to detect, it even happened with KIS, http scanning disabled, it suddenly detected virus, next moment it was ignoring it, with webguard, the page would not have loaded!

I like it is in the suite and not in the AV, it gives folks a choice.

I feel very thankfull for the generous offer from avira and thank them for a 6 month trial and If everything Goes well and Is so far It Is,I will gladly purchase the premium version. As a marketing stand point this should gain popularity and revenue I would think.

I think http scanning should also be included in personel edition premium, since the only job it does is to be an anti virus/spyware software and it does not even provide full functions for it!

Is HTTP scanning necessary when it scans files on read and write? If malware is ran on a drive-by download then when it is executed it should be caught right? What is a situation where a HTTP scanner will catch something but the normal read/write scanner won't?

it does have its advantages. Stefan wrote about here once. But I would not worry about not having it because the Guard will catch something if it gets through. You have a product with some of the best detection, that is what counts.:)

I wonder when this offer runs out..
Anyway, great AV! Working -semi- great here too. It has the annoying habit of minimizing games when it wants to update. Yes even in invisible mode :)

Never had an fp and many others have not either. Presence of fps is overstated.

I have yet to see one here either, in over 3 months of use now.. I think reports of FP's are exagerated by a small few and under odd circumstances.. most people don't see any.

just as the huge sample-tests are Kerodo,

they are exaggerated, but i think they have to be for the sake of testing and pushing the limits.

all avs have given me a FP, but there has been no evidence that i can see to any AV being labelled a fp-machine. (Fortinet not included)

this is why the importance of trying a product yourself, going to the places on the internet that YOU go to, testing real life threats and samples and then checking how good your product is for you.
