    So what's the consensus on it? Is AVG approaching anywhere near KAV in terms of ability and quality?

    Or is it still a long ways off?

    Both have one thing in common on my computer, they didn't find anything.
    Is a comparision possible with KAV ? Maybe with NOD32, but not with AVG.

    AVG is really not near KAV. KAV still has superior detection rates and it includes the web scanner and proactive defense.
