I have recently read a European test (I honestly can't remember the name of the website) of AVG Internet Security 7.5 that stated that AVG is unable to detect virii in compressed files. Is that true? If so, isn't that a concern?

It will detect malware in archives (at least in the most common formats like .zip. rar, etc) during a scan, or when you try to open the file. As far as I know, there is not really any need to scan archives in real time.
