I'm pretty sure my computer has a virus (I pretty sure it's called Downloader and another called Backdoor) and I've been trying desperately to delete it before I end up completely restoring my system and all my info and programs. My Norton AntiVirus 2007 isn't doing a thing to help so I downloaded ewido, which downloaded AVG.

The program installed but when I double-click to run it, or select it from my program list nothing happens. Is it because of Norton or the virus? It's supposed to be compatible with Norton so I assume the virus. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end and could really use some advice!

Is it possible to save my computer or should I just wipe the slate clean and start over.

    Thanks so much.

    Hello fruithead,

What are the names of the viruses Norton is detecting?

Any further information you can provide will allow others to help you.

fruithead, if AVG AS is installed, then you should try to start it in Safe-mode of Windows and scan in this mode your System.
