AVG antispyware

Is this app known for many FP ?? I use SAS PRO and when I had my HD scanned yesterday AVP Free found something that SAS didn't (dropper)? Before I change I like to know a bit more about it.

 

NO, but like any other product not perfect.

There is no rule that says if SAS PRO did not find 'it', nothing else will. However you are free to submit a sample to AVG to confirm it is an FP or not.

No NEED to change, it may be fine to keep your SAS PRO. AVG Antispyware is based on a former Anti-Trojan product known Ewido. Take care.

 

I'ts not know for much actually , ive ran it 6months with nothing found perhaps a good thing though

 

As was said, submit it to AVG to see if it's a false positive.
I use both SAS free and AVG free as on demand scanners.
They almost never find anything.

When something is found by any application that has such a generic name as "dropper", chances are it was flagged because of likely behaviour. (Heuristics.) Such a find is always worth further investigation. A lot of the scanners can do this at times. Doesn't mean that AVG is "bad".
