When I deliberately infected my PC with malware, it was SAS free and Spybot that found
most of it. However, results are greatly affected by the Size and Quality of the sample.

I am not here to promote SAS, Spybot, AVG AS, A-Squared, Spyware Doctor or the "X" AS product.

When you use -FREE- AS scanners, you have to use MORE than one of them.
I just use them to Check my Setup and not Protect it:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=198080&page=2 (#33)

I prefer to test my Security setup with the -Free- AS products described above instead of using
Spyware Terminator, Ad-aware 2007 Free, and Malwarebytes Antimalware.

    To dissolve any missunderstanding,
I have NO Official or Unofficial relationship with
PC Tools Spyware Doctor or ANY other AS vendor!

However, my writings caused the reaction of
-the ones who are fanboying specific AS products (?)
-the ones who are Shills: Hidden Security-software Promoters (?)

    Hi,,

    SecOmmus:

While having my first cup of morning coffee, I , all of sudden, almost lost my sense toward its aroma and taste after reading your post.

You must be a new comer here, or still a GREEN one.

Everyone here can publish his/her own test results using his/her own set of samples, you probably are good enough to know your samples may not randomly enough to cover most if not all area of malware origin.

Therefore, your test result REALLY can not be interpreted as a reliable testimony, but rather a guide/reference to all others.

No one, at least including me, is actually interested in your real identity, a sill or a hired gun ? who cares? covert operation these days is so advanced that even a ex-US ambassador did not even know his better half was indeed a CIA agent!

I respect your test result, but your conclusion and endorsement of your favorite AS apps just do not fly in front of my face. Sorry.

    And take care.

    As everybody knows,
there is no commonly accepted AV testing method.
Therefore, each AV tester follows his own testing path.
Regarding the AS scanners, things are even Worse:
There are No Official AS-testings at ALL!

As far as my tests, I keep them for myself.
No one forced you or any other member to accept my views.
I wrote about many FREE AS scanners.
I did not support any particular AS scanner,
because I don't use them to protect my setup.

For one more time, I will say that I have NO
Official/Unofficial relationship with any AV/AS vendor.
If my writings don't please some AS Funboyz/Shills,
I will not change my views/beliefs and
align them with what some organized interests want!

P.S.: I am a new Writer, but I am a very old Reader of this forum.

    LoneWolf,

I know that you like Malwarebytes AntiMalware.
As you quoted me, I didn't promote any -Particular- AS product.
I just wrote down my preferences on Various -FREE- AS products
based on my testings and usage habits.
I am not forcing you or anyone to accept my views.
Equally, I will not force myself to accept your views.
Especially when there is no Official (=Commonly Accepted) method
for evaluating (=testing) the performance of the AS scanners.

As the tendency of software vendors to merge functionality of several programs, the individual version of a particular program with a particular focus will disappear. Most novice PC users just want one security application to do it all. Same thing as with a word processor program. If you offered one that had the dictionary spell checker, document handling, layout, table handing features in separate standalone program options, I don't think that program would be very popular.;)
