its not that i hate it there are some things i just dont like. BUT i find it does work decent and i would consider using it. if you adjust just a couple settings it offers actually really good protection

The Identity Protection module is very stron in v2013. But the interface with Metro style won't appeal to everyone.

Well, although the new interface is "refreshing"......the free version concentrates a little too much on showing what free version doesn't offer plus the ad below the UI....it really put me off after a couple of days of usage.

I like the free version but signature updates every 4 hours would be nice. :)

The black Metro-style GUI is the most hideous and depressing GUI that i can remember seeing in any antivirus.

You could open something like Process Explorer before you start a manual update, and then check for the process name avgmpaf.exe (I think that's the name; don't recall... but it's similar...) properties and copy and paste to a scheduled task (Windows own scheduler).

That should take care of more "automatic" updates.

Did you forget Avast mp3 player GUI? :gack:

Thank you, I know that trick. However, I think 4 updates a day (like Avira) would be fair. :)

Ah, yes, i forget it because at the time Avast was skinnable and i had found a couple of really nice skins, so i never used the default one.

AVG's new GUI really is odd, it has a very retro feel to it despite being metro-oriented in its styling. I must, however, say that the colour palette used is atrocious, to say the least.

AVG Free 2013 has been a very nice neighbor to me on 2 of my systems. I really can't understand people complaining about it this much. Let alone the fact that you can get rid of the ad banner and the 'upgrade to pro' stuff via a hack.

I used to be a happy user of AVG free. And I like it since then. Maybe I will use it again someday.

Seriously, webroot came last in AV-C and AV-Tests and so Why should I trust PC-MAG or any other ******** mag rating. We get these type of ~ Snipped as per TOS ~ review mags everyday here in india and trust me,it always full of loaded tosh like this thing is..why should I give it a ****

Cant imagine how small and how diminished the sample set and the pattern of testing would have been :argh:

Anyway,I think AVG is a quite good a AV program though I never used it,I have it installed on 2 of my clients machine just for the sake of testing and turns out they both are clean from past 2 months.Considering the fact, all my clients are risky computer users, this is good for AVG :)

I installed AVG on my sister computer. Then she got a notification to upgrade to a premium. She doesn't know much about computers and AVs etc and so of course she upgraded. Next thing I know 6 months later I see that she has expired AVG premium and unprotected system.

The question is if you know Why they tested so bad in the tests by AV-C? ;) If you don't then look it up :)
