    A little question:

In AVG 2013 (paid versions), the Online Shield settings have an option named "maximum part size of file to be scanned". If I raise this limit, how much of a slowdown should I expect in browsing or web page loading speed? Has anyone tried it?

The reason why i like the avast!'s direction with v8. The interface now has way less "ads" and even those that are there are more subtle really. They bother me far less than the banner in v7 (which was still very subtle and non annoying).
Maybe AVG could learn a thing or two from avast! in this regard and i might use it someday...

There's a hack to get rid of all that, including the banner at the bottom and the firewall button.

lol. that's one way to do it.
However I've found AVG Free to be really good. I like it a lot and I use it on my dad's and my sister's laptops.

I must apologise for my sarcastic reply concerning AVG as i find i may have been unjustly harsh in saying uninstall it altogether.I have only used it once many years ago and if i recall it was a love/hate relationship.

But yes i find that if there are elements of an antivirus or any other program for that matter that are not to your liking then uninstalling it and choosing another program would be my instant advice.

Seems AVG updated their range with a host of performance fixes and replaced the "PC Analyzer" with a "Quick Tune" feature that provides free functionality of registry scan/repair and defragmentation. One step in the right direction, as the Quick Tune seems far less like bloat and simplistic compared to the old "one-time free PC Analyzer scan". :)
