I have just installed the free version and found that there are 2 additional processes called 'Windows Media Player network.....'
I disabled all sound, restarted, but they are still there.

    Any help?

Those seem to be related to Windows Media Player. Which would have nothing to do with Avast sounds.

    wmpnetwk.exe & wmpnscfg.exe
You are right of course, its just that they were not there before & now they are.
    :doubt:
They are not in the start-up group only avastui has been addedo_O

I have done a complete scan with Avast & PrevX

They are services not programs and neither are harmful. They are used with WMP.

You can disable the services for them by going to start > run > services.msc and finding Windows Media Player Network Sharing Services and disable that. Im not sure what the other one is.

Ok I did that & stopped it (the other one is the config file)
It was set to manual & started.

    I rebooted and its back
So I have an issue, I need to trace whatever is calling this service - any ideas

You have to stop it and disable it both.
