    Hi folks,

Does anyone know if Avast can be set to block access or execution of an infected file (like NOD32 and KAV)? For example, I can download a trojan but NOD32 won't let me even touch it. Same with KAV.

    Thank you.

And what would be then reason to use AV anyway?

RejZor - I think you may have mistaken my question. I would like to use Avast Home but when I tried it was possible to execute a trojan or other malware. Is there any setting that can make this impossible? I don't want to just detect malware but to block it's execution.

    Thank you.

To my knowledge having used Avast for the last two years or so, it would never let me execute any virus as the real time scanner would block it, even downloading a virus through your browser is impossible as the web shield would block it.

As i said, pausing separate providers will give you ability to execute malicious files.
