A couple week ago, I had to completely uninstall and reinstall Avast 8 Free. For some reason, using the GUI, I am not able to complete the free registration. I just started getting popups about registering, but every time I try, nothing happens. It seems like it's trying to retrieve something, but then it appears to be in a loop and just ends up back at the "Register Now" page.

Any suggestions on how to complete the registrationo_O

I think you've gotta go to check your mail (the one you gave when registering Avast), and click the link in their response.

I kind of wish they would do away with that. Very few free AVs require registration, though I suppose it is faster than Bitdefender Free's registration process.

    Hey guys it's free!

So the vendor wanting to stay in business they will want/need to grow their paid subscriptions.

Think about it IF you were an AV vendor with bills to pay like everybody else how would you set up your business model?

These free products are loss leaders just to get potential customers in the door.

The one thing my AV business would do is offer a 50% discount to freebies going paid.
