I think this AV will be more popular than the Free Sophos for Mac currently is.
If it is light and Avast keeps it updated and provide good support then I think it will be very popular.
Once the Mac userbase realise that they need protection that is :D

The new look is nicer then the old look, BUT lets hope Avast will put some effort into finding it's own malware. They were SO LAZY a couple years ago asking the posters on their forum to send in a super common trojan that was all over at the time.

After they made sanbox for mac, it will be enough reason for me to buy mac ;)

While waiting I'll try to pile some cash :D

The current beta feels more like an alpha. That said, its lighter than ESET and Sophos offerings. It has virtually no impact on boot-time and opening applications. In fact I felt the browser was more responsive too. If this performance can continue as the development moves forward, I think I will gladly pay for it if it ever becomes a paid solution.

LOL, what a nonsense. Avast for Mac of course detects all Mac malware (and its variants) known so far. The poster suggested that he had a sample which was not detected, so the obvious reaction of the staff was to ask the user to submit it to the virus lab (as always). However, the user never came back and reading his post again, I think he was just asking whether avast detects the virus, not actually saying it does not (and it does, of course).

    Take care
    Vlk

You've misplaced that. Or not, since it perfectly described your post.

As for Avast making a Mac AV, I just hope it doesn't affect the original negatively.
