Avast! 5 beta 1

    ye thers no point in scanning archives in ondemand system scan since an archived malware cant do anything.

    I always use the default scanning settings, so unless it scans archives by default, something else is the issue.

    what do u mean, like it kills the mamutu process? cuz im running both perfectly.

    At startup a .sys file from Mamutu (I hope it's really from Mamutu) is killed by Avast: Rootkit found :rolleyes:

    Is this new to the 5.0 beta, or did it also happen in v4.x?

    well im using mamutu so its definetly not happening with v4.8, and it didnt happen when i tried the newest v5 beta either.

    This is new to the 5.0 beta, it didn't happen with 4.x :rolleyes:

    I suggest you post the name of the file which you believe is part of Mamutu.

    I just installed Avast 5. Gotta ask. What the heck is the short cut icon supposed to be? o_O Sort of looks like an amoeba with the Avast logo in the middle. :D

    I like that icon! haha This new build seems to use a little less ram. Not sure if they made some optimizations there, or just chance. It did give me a couple false positives though, but I bet they get that cleared up quick.

    that file is not part of mamutu, if u check their forums i made a post about it already.

    Yeah I like it too. Maybe it's a piece of malware being squashed by Avast. :D Have to admit, it is unique. :)

    tbh i wish they used the amoeba icon instead of the circle, is ther anyway to manually put it?

    Yes, the Avast! website said there would be a beta refresh tonight with some minor changes, and I got it too.

    Just report the false positive to virus[at]avast.com (don't forget to send them a sample). The more we send, the more they can fix.
