It would seem this AV-Test is for CM Security - Antivirus Free
    -https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.security&hl=en
Where it is mentioned it's "Powered by local and cloud dual mode engines by Kingsoft."

The AV in Clean Master (Cleaner) - FREE is new as of Feb. 3 update.
There's nothing there about Kingsoft, but it should be obvious it is.

Confusing is Clean Master is "The world's most downloaded FREE cache cleaner, RAM booster, and antivirus & security suite." Security Suite?? Doesn't look like a security suite to me. CM Security - Antivirus Free looks like a security suite.

    Both apps are KS Mobile.
    KS = Kingsoft

Having used the cleaner for several months, what's new is when opening the App Manager, apps are scanned as evidenced by a progress/status bar where the number of apps, memory occupied and detection are reported upon completion. Also, each app is tagged as "Safe." Well, so far.

I haven't used it enough yet to notice anything else new in the UI.

After installing or updating an app, there'll be a Clean Master brush icon in the notifications, reporting "(App) is safe, tap to open." Well, so far.

Seems to play well with the notifications from Bitdefender MS (scanner and privacy advisor) , Malwarebytes and AppBrain Ad Detector. In fact, they all seem to play well together.

There is some connectivity to CHINANET and quite a lot to amazonaws.com.

In looking at CM Security's description and screenshots, it seems a bit of Clean Master is integrated into it also.

Apparently, KS Mobile is marketing both a full security suite with some cleaning and a full featured cleaner with some AV. The Play Store and ksmobile.com Web sites are pretty flaky on the details as of this posting.

    Cheers.

It would be interesting if Google's Verify Apps feature was tested. That would be the "Baseline" so to say. :p

Since it just detected as adware by Dr. Web, then it is understandable if some AVs don't detect it - because it is adware and not malicious.

Pick two or three samples which aren't verified to be clean or malicious, then decide on the effectiveness of antimalware applications. Hmm I can't quite put my finger on it, but something feels wrong here:rolleyes:

    P.S. I'm not talking on AV-Test's results.
