New Tests Reveal the Best Antivirus for Windows 7 - Kaspersky is once again the best app in antivirus tests:
Eset got "dinged" bad on this test because its July 0-day score 96% was whereas August's was 100%. Its performance scores didn't help either. Don't understand how AV-Test does those tests since I have never had any performance issues on either Win 7 or 10 with Eset and I have quite a few custom firewall and HIPS rules.
I usually find performance tests give quite different results to what I experience myself. However, the results from the last performance test by AV-Comparatives seem to match what I've experienced when using the products they tested. I find v10 ESET products to be extremely light, but old versions to be too heavy my liking.
Eset is not bad, but they could use some improvement in some areas. Eset does have a good Firewall, and good Exploit protection. Their heuristics are good, but I think maybe they could have better blacklist signature detection. I think they should also incorporate a behavior blocker.
Gotch'ya. Even Dolly Parton ain't so "top heavy." Some serious underhanded soft ball slow pitches thrown at these apps or what?!
Eset may not score as high as other software but it works very well and trouble free in my laptop. I was searching for an alternative for ccleaner and came across many bogus software. Eset and norton connectsafe dns handled them all at the network level
https://community.norton.com/en/comment/7655231#comment-7655231 Are you sure that's the choice you want to make?
I am using norton dns for a few months. I don't use the norton toolbar. I use google and bing for my searches and haven't come across ask so far. May be the issue you referred affects only those who use norton toolbar. As per norton dns privacy policy the information is purged within two days. https://dns.norton.com/privacy.html
This is what you would see if you were logged in now: "and you think Privacy Policy is any different than for Toolbar or for any Norton. https://cdn.ckeditor.com/4.5.4/full-all/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.png https://www.symantec.com/privacy/product-privacy-statements Other information beyond basic DNS information may be collected from the search engine. I am not using Ask search engine. Is it possible to set cookies by dns provider? The purpose of DNS is to match the website with the ip address and take the user to the correct website right?
Ok. Looks like Symantec shares dns query info with Ask. My ISP IP address is dynamic and anyway I use a VPN if I need security and privacy like online shopping and payments since I always have this doubt that my wifi is/will be compromised I use sandboxie and my browser content is always cleared on exit.
It should be noted that Eset's scores on Win 8 and 10 are better. For the last AV-Test Win 8.1 comparative, it was 6.0. For the last Win 10 AV-Test comparative, it was 5.5. It is no secret that AV product scores do vary by OS installed on. One of the reasons the AV Labs test on multiple OS versions. For example on Win 10, Eset fully deploys all the Win 10 native security enhancements such as the use of the ELAM driver, AMSI, etc.. Ditto for the difference in test scores for MSE on Win 7 and Windows Defender on Win 10.
