Well deserved indeed, particularly considering all the criticism associated with the launcher/connect inane issue...
I just switched from Webroot to Avira Antivirus Pro (beta) to test it out. I have no idea why people hate the launcher so much. It's such a nothing issue to me.
I think he means that you can survive with the launcher, taking into account that you are using a great product for free, unless you pay for the support. I can imaging people playing with the launcher every boot of the pc and getting mad for it, but I guess most people don't even open the AV in weeks or months
Reading the Avira thread is like reading politics on Reddit. People are getting FURIOUS at the stupid launcher, like it's a big deal, or makes any actual impact on their lives. If they hate it that much, just... move on. Simple. Use another AV. That being said, very impressed with Avira so far.
Kudos to Avira for the improvement and as always Kaspersky and Bitdefender at the top I really want to see Avira Free being tested at AV-Comparatives ...
Well, for some reasons Avira free is actually doing better than Avira Pro at the latest RAP test of Virus Bulletin: https://www.virusbulletin.com/testing/vb100/latest-rap-quadrant/
Almost the same, better for Reaction and worse in Proactive detection, maybe the Cloud helped there. Anyway nice link, it is good to see that there are equivalent in protection.
Re Virus Bulletin - Avira and in order to clarify for what products we are talking about: In VB100 tests the term Avira Pro means: The BUSINESS PRODUCT Avira Pro http://www.avira.com/en/for-business-avira-antivirus-pro and not the Home product Avira Antivirus Pro: http://www.avira.com/en/avira-antivirus-pro -------------------------------------------- 1. For some reasons Avira was not included in latest test: VB100 results from 2016-10 (latest) on Windows 7 Professional https://www.virusbulletin.com/uploads/pdf/magazine/2016/201610-vb100-comparative.pdf Last 10 VB100 tests for Avira Pro [Avira Antivirus Pro - Business Edition]: https://www.virusbulletin.com/testing/results/recent/vb100-antimalware/avira Last 10 VB100 tests for Avira Free Antivirus: https://www.virusbulletin.com/testing/results/recent/vb100-antimalware/avira-personal 2. The latest test where Avira Antivirus Pro - Business Edition and Avira Free tested together was the: 2016-04 VB100 results from 2016-04 on Windows 8.1 https://www.virusbulletin.com/testing/results/test_from/2016-04/vb100-antimalware https://www.virusbulletin.com/uploads/pdf/magazine/2016/201604-vb100-comparative.pdf where both products scored the same = RAP overview:85,1 / RAP Score:85.07
1. Re cloud (APC): The Avira Protection Cloud is offered with both products, Avira Free & Paid. The Web Protection (aka WebGuard) is exclusively for Paid products. 2. Re VB100 tests:
Strange results as according to av-comparatives charts http://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php?chart=chart2&year=2016&month=9&sort=1&zoom=2 F-Secure had the most effective product on Real-World Protection tests.
1. Re Product of the Year: 2. Re the Real-World Protection Test: Further to Real-World Protection chart, just compare the awards for Avira & F-Secure above.....
