What decides whether a vendor is included in the test or not.

Go to to AV-Comparatives.org and see methodology.pdf it lists the gist of it all.

I have more confidence in AV Comparatives than any other test organization, and no matter how many other testing groups say that such and such is tops I don't put a lot of stock in it until I see AVC tests.

I do hope A-Squared participates in the AVC tests soon.

    Regards,
    Jerry

I hope PrevX joins the AV-C party. So that they can finally prove their claims.

Yes, I agree. Prevx is making exceedingly strong claims about the performance of their product (“World's strongest, fastest, most powerful security solution”) which, to the best of my knowledge, are completely unsubstantiated.

Rising was dropped from the test before 3 years.
    Why?
Because detection of the virus did not exceed 87%.:D
    Some rules must exist!

True NobleT, however this is the major league so just being there is a feat by itself and every participant is a worthy piece of software.

Maybe because it's missing is a sign it's not even good enough to make it to the test.

Norman and Kingsoft, for example, did not exceed 87% in the August 2009 On-Demand Comparative but they were not dropped from the testing!? Rising with its Smart Active Defense is stronger than some of the participants who detected more than 95%, but, hey, who really cares. :D

    Depends on the reader though.
Some folks think for instance that Avira scores high in detction because they also detect false positives and therefore achieve the high score they get.
If people don't read the AV-Comparatives report themselves, you have to explain to them that different sample sets are used for detection and FP ratings.

So, while Emsisoft might score high on detection and (relatively) high on fp's, some folks will interpret it incorrectly and think that if they didn't detect the fp's, they would have gotten a lower score.

They would have a lot of false positives.
This would hinder their score immensely.
I believe this is the reason for not entering, not the entrance fee.

I remember reading somewhere Prevx has stayed out of AV-C Simply because a fully cloud based AV would not work well with how AV-C tests with the exception of the all new Dynamic testing. Old testing tho would not really work well. Same goes for any program that rely on any Cloud based tech.

I'm using A-Squared for six months now and so far I'm very happy with it. Sure I'd like to see it in the AV-comparatives but I already know it is protecting me well and 100% compatible in my Windows 7 laptop.

    Interesting news, thank you

I'd like to see ikarus (a-squared) and VIPRE antivirus as well in the list.
I'm really curious to see how VIPRE would perform
