Unfortunately my googling hasn't provided a lot of information on the subject so I am hoping this will bring some interesting discussion... Do the browser plugins like is included with suites like Norton and Kaspersky increase the attack surface of your browser beyond their worth? I am seeing .dll files that lack ASLR support and things that make me wonder whether they bring more risk than benefit.

Search for "Protecting Browsers from Extension Vulnerabilities" in Google Scholar, then look at its "cited by" and "related articles."
