    using nod32 2.12.2 trial
it doesnt want to automatically update on computer startup....
it starts, but it never end at 100%..it stops at 30% or less or more..
I have to click abort and update it manually....
ive also set it to update every 1 hour, which it does perfectly....
    just never on computer startup.
    any ideas?
I have ADSL and im using zonealarm on xp

i think there is something in my startup-list that is causing this error, like my firewall......it should be possible to insert some kind of delay or something for nod32?!

disabled my firewall, didnt fix it...
I think the problem is that Nod32 tries to update on startup before the adsl connection has been fully established

It's a fairly common fault with all update at start up programs

it happens because your dsl connection is the last thing to activate when you start up

It's not a NOD fault or any other updater's fault

it's a windows design and has something to do with your ADSL modem & connection

windows needs to be fully loaded including all drivers & devices before most usb adsl modems will negotiate a connection, IT's still actually dials up even if it is very fast

I am assuming you have a USB connection, because this doesn't happen normally with an ethernet connection when the modem stays on permanently

I use cable with the modem permanently on and if I connect via the usb port to the cable modem I get the same problem, If I connect via the ethernet port as it is now then no problems

try setting the nod updater to dial up instead, it then won't try to connect until it detects the active modem & a connection

doesnt nod have some kind of timeout-stuff ?
..it just stays on 30% or whatever....i have checked nod32 to update every 1 hours, im not sure if it does this when the last update froze on startup

try setting the nod updater to dial up setting instead, it then won't try to connect until it detects the active modem & a connection and see if that makes a difference

is there any point in adding a 20 delay or so to the nod32kui.exe file using a startup-manager program? (in that time my ADSL will be established, and maybe it will update corectly on startup)
or is the update-stuff loaded with the nod32 kernel service?

I fixed my updating problem on startup by installing a program called "Startup Faster 2004" and set a 20 second delay on nod32kui.exe
