I'm running my Win XP SP1 machine on broadband modem (ADSL).
The dial-up connection is defined to get connected with internet.

I prefer manual invokation of dial-up connection to have controle
on what is happening on the machine.

One minute (maybe two) after the log-in process to the windows
user account this dial-up connection invokes on itself.
I don't however know what task is doing that. It is not my
    explicit wish.
All my applications have switched-off the automatic mechanism for update search.
What tool can I use to find out who is invoking the dial-up connection ?

Maybe a insight in any logs can help me ?
Do you know such logs ?

Thanks in advance for any hints.

Why not install a personal firewall? Such as Kerio or ZoneAlarm. Then you'll see when it tries to access the internet exactly what it is and you can decide whether to allow it or not. And of course, if you disallow it, you will have cured the problem with it trying to dial out as well.
