I am trying to perform a scheduled image on a nightly basis to a REV internal ATAPI on Windows 2000 Server. The REV drivers are installed, but the OS and ATI8 see the device as a CD-RW instead of a "real" disk drive. My guess is because it has removable media, and thus is categorized as such by the OS.

As a result, I am being prompted to insert media at the beginning of each scheduled job. This is not making my backup strategy, ummm... automatic.

I am using different REV cartridges on a daily basis, much like rotating tapes offsite for DR measures.

Here's the question: Can I make ATI8 Server perform the task automatically without having to prompt the SysOp for anything? Is this a limitation with the Iomega device? Can I use a script from the command line to force the image creation process on this type of target device, or can this be accomplished in the GUI? Can it be made to verify the target devices availability and then proceed with the image?

Sorry for the long post, but I like the REV Drives and ATI8 Server, and I don't want to have to change my backup target to an NAS device or external USB disk.

    Hello Steve,

Thank you for choosing Acronis True Image Server (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATISWin/).

We regret to inform you that the message with the "Ok" button you need to press will appear always when the image should be stored onto CD or DVD. Acronis True Image Server does recognize Iomega REV as CDRW and it is normal situation. Our Development Team is working on the problem solution and as soon as this solution is found it will be certainly implemented in Acronis True Image.

    Thank you.

Did you found a workaround for this? I'm going to install the REV Drive and TI8 (build 800) Server on Saturday and I want to schedule the jobs as well on a nightly basis.

Would it help to share the REV and use the UNC-path instead of the drive letter?

Sorry for grammatical mistakes as english is not my native language.

    Greetz,
    Oliver
