I've never had any troubles with NOD32, but lately it's starting to reset (& remove) everything in IMON just random, making it go back to higher compatibility for no reason at all. I don't use any reg cleaners nor have I had any other antivirus installed...

Even with a fresh XP install it still does it.

So I'd like to know what could be the problem here.. Reg entries used/done by NOD just randomly resets, making it go back to higher compatibility..

I am having a similar problem with my girlfriends laptop. She had Norton Anti-virus 2K6, but her subscription ended, and I switched her over to NOD32. Used the Norton Removel tool to get rid of the program, deleted the reg keys, and installed NOD32, v2.7... But now I'm having issues where though all other settings save, under the client compatablity section in IMON, I turn everything to higher efficency and reboot, yet they don't save, NOT a single. one. There are only like 4 or 5 entries to change, but still, I've never had issues before with NOD32, till now with this. One other issue is the entry for ACTIONS in IMON, where you can choose Display warning page or deny file download. I choose DENY file download, and go to the EICAR website to test with the eicar virus test file, when I click it, I get a PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED.. I should get the page where NOD shows it denied the download of the file, but that doesn't show up. If I choose the display warning window, that does pop up, I choose TERMINATE, and yet again, get page can't be found/displayed, when I should get the NOD HTML page instead, what gives?

Windows XP HOME sp2 (admin account being used)
3 user accounts (fast user switching enabled)

    Thanks...

    Hello Brian,

I have been monitoring the appropriate reg key since your thread start for any read\writes during operation and during any system reboots. If it would help....perhaps I can further simulate\check by doing what ever you were doing just prior to you noticing the change :doubt:

I fired up FF2, clicked around and turned off the pc.
Now I'm starting to think it has something to do with FF2 and it's "session restore" thingy .. hmmm

And thanks for your effort Bubba, appreciate it :)

I'm still having the same issues, and I am not running FF2, I just boot up, go into IMON to change everything to Higher Efficency, and then reboot, but nothing is ever saved...

Also, I am still having issues with the NOD HTML page not showing up when a file is denied download through IMON...

yes, anything I'm doing is with the admin account, but nothing saves..o_O mind you though, ALL other options in IMON save, like the options I setup for the scanner and what to do, etc.. ONLY thing that does not work is the client compatablity section, all stay red no matter what I try, and the IMON HTML page that should show up in IE when a download was denied by IMON, those 2 things, don't work at all for some odd reason...

Yes I did, first thing I tried actually, but now I'm guessing this is a bug or something, as I see others having the same issue. Maybe someone from ESET can point to what to do here.. Thanks for the help :D

    Client Compatibilty?

I continue to have issues with this section in IMON, where the settings are not being saved. I did a complete re-install of NOD, making sure to remove the registry keys as well as the program folder, then intalling the very latest version. I will run certain apps, then go and change everything in that section of IMON to "higher effiency", but upon a reboot, and I go back to check, nothing is saved, why is that? What can be done to correct this, as I already tried a re-install of NOD32? thanks....oh, and I've also noticed, that ever since this issue arose, the NOD32 graphic that should come up in IE when a file has been blocked by IMON, NEVER appears anymore. If I setup IMON to auto deny a file, I'll get a page cannot be displayed, not the graphic that should show up..

The NOD32 graphic that should come up in IE only shows up in higher efficiency, so it's related to the efficiency setting.

Shouldn't have anything to do with it, Firefox stores none of the session saving information in the registry, personal settings and similar data is all stored in the profile folder.

Firefox shouldn't write anything to the registry except during installation/uninstallation or when setting default browser.

I just tested some NOD32 versions, 2.70.16 (lan) upgrade to 2.70.25 (lan), and at last a clean install of 2.70.23 standard version.
Did the usual reboot after an installation, update, and even some more reboots  , opened some programs and browsed with IE.

Checked the efficiency settings a hundred times but they didn't change.

(XP Home SP2 all upgrades/patches, admin account)

I've also noticed that upon reboot, the programs that showed up in the compatibilty list, reset, as though it's starting over, so not only do the "efficency changes" not take, but the list of programs don't save either. Can anyone from Eset tell us if this is a bug or something?

Very well could be, I never look in this area, mine has reset "most" to "red". However I doubt anything will be done to fix it given that version 3 can't be to far away and IMON will no longer be part of NOD32 ;) :D

    Cheers :D

It's not a bug, something else (e.g. a registry cleaner) must keep resetting this setting in the registry.

IMON HTTP Green to Red Changes

On a given day I may See or "Make" all HTTP settings Green High Efficiency per Green is "More Protection & Preferred". Days later I may see 10 Red Compatibility settings, some Apps having "Changed Themselves" and some newly "Added" as Red. Blackspear once Replied that some Apps may Operate Better in Red & change "themselves " accordingly, BUT When would you "Force Them" "To Green or Back-to-Green" and when do you leave the "Apps setting-to-Red As Is?" Any clarification is appreciated.

Re: IMON HTTP Green to Red Changes

well i leave download managers, p2p apps, and players (used for streaming media) as red. Everything else should be ok as green.

that can't be, I'm not running any registry cleaner, in fact, I did do a COMPLETE re-install of the app, getting rid of the registry keys as well, and the program folder, installed, rebooted, opened up some apps, went and changed everything to green, rebooted, and nothing saves... This started for me on the very latest release of NOD32, but even reverting back doesn't help, the changes don't save on multiple machines, with no running of any registry cleaners, don't need that, is' a brand new machine, so this has to be some type of bug.. :D

Since this seems to be somewhat an isolated occurence....perhaps you could consider installing RegDefend and monitor the appropriate IMON registry key to help you and Nod determine what might be changing the settings. There are numerous folks that will be glad to assist in our RegDefend forum.

Thanks Bubba, I'm going to check out that software and see what I can do with it to pinpoint what is going on... :)
