Hi, I would like start using a clipboard manager like Ditto or CopyQ but i don't know how much this type of software are safe to use. Can they hide spyware or something else?
I think the security concern is more about spyware reading the clipboard's memory. In other words, if your system would get infected, the info stored in the clipboard manager would be vulnerable.
There has been a lot of malware lately that steals bitcoins from people's computers. It does this by finding the bitcoins' secret keys. If you copied and pasted a bitcoin key, and it is stored in your password manager, then...
I dont know too much about bitcoin so i will go with the above. There are threads on here about it which is why i mention it in passing.
And this security concern is not just about stealing bitcoin info. It could be any info, like passwords, email addresses, ID numbers, credit card credentials, etc etc. Some of these clipboard programs store the data in clear text, so that should be pretty easy to steal. If there is a clipboard program that has security measures, please let us know about it. Could be good.
Hello, SpyShelter watches your clipboard and once a program tries to use it or gain access a pop-up comes up and ask you whether it should block or allow access. This is important to me as I use a password manager that I copy and past from to the website. If I was you I'd check it out.
do not matter if you control access - clipboard manager must have access but you dont know what happen after, how is data store, offline/online, send anywhere. irony of your so called "control"
