    prosecurity has a free version though i dont know how it compares to PG full.

    ok, so what would be the best (non networked, because i have comodo) protection software in this category.. forgetting the price... anybody with experience in any of these?

    It is my opinion that as of now SSM and PS are the best in this category. SSM has been around for a while now, while PS is sort of "the new guy". These two also seem be under active development and have good support.

    The best advice I can give you is to just give them both a try and see which one you like the best. See how each one works with your system, see how they both look and feel, then take it from there. It's a matter of personal preference really. :)
