I suspect this will be challenged in court. The only way I can see this being legal is if it ONLY applies during the warranty period. After the warranty runs out, 3rd party (including self) repairs should be authorized.

Just a hobby of mine... :D
Seriously though ,as Bill stated, I can't imagine this not going to court. If it has been ruled illegal for printer manufacturers to void your warranty for using 3rd party ink and various other companies have been punished for blocking 3rd party repairs then this wouldn't go far. For someone that wasn't Apple.

Apple will refuse to repair a mac that has being damaged from a customer (if it has been opened). Not simply void the guarranty... but refuse the repair even if the customer is willing to pay for the costs...

I know you youngsters won't remember this. But when this behavior was repeated over & over by a company. The fines would become massive because the company was being openly defiant of the law.

This looks to be a battle brewing just as you say. And look exactly how it's come about. Not about mechanical-electrical equipment as earlier models, but with the ever increasing digital arrays being outfitted into these farm machines, that's making for the basis for some manufactured brands to test these waters to their favor.

I'm in Indiana rural cattle/corn/soybean country so I suppose something akin to what they are facing eventually will spill over at some point. Farmers all over need to really unite on this.

    Totally off topic but...
On vacation? Just noticing, "Location: U.S.A. (South)" under your username. Pretty sure Indiana was never considered part of "the South", politically, geographically, demographically, or meteorologically. ;)

Technically it's called the Tri-State area which supposedly encompasses Evansville IN-Owensboro KY etc.

It's South enough in that the people are southern lingo and KY is just so close you wouldn't notice much difference but Mid-South is mentioned too. I don't think even they know exactly what description is most accurate. Since I hail from the River City Louisville it's all nearly the same where I am. 100 miles north (Indianapolis) and you enter another different lingo zone.

Okay. I hear what you are saying. But even with my family on my dad's side being from Indiana (Fort Wayne/Warsaw) in "Northern Indiana" and River City/Louisville being in Southern Indiana, I still would not consider that area "U.S.A. (South)".

As for Kentucky, they cannot seem to make up their minds if Southern or Midwestern! ;)

You should be around here then. With Louisville the absolute exception, the rest of western KY would blow your mind. It's from my experience, a Southern Indiana clone but you can quite pretty much distinquish Western Hoosiers from West Kentuckians. And i'll leave it at that. As a native Louisvillian (City) we are an entirely different breed than the rest of the entire area. :thumb:

Apple's introduction to this newest invention does spark some anxiety. Probably will spread onto all other of their devices because frankly what can the public do about it? Contest in another courtroom drama coming soon.......

I get that, I dislike both sides. But I blame Apple for the 4 digit phone prices. I have to wonder how much money is enough. Apparently no amount.
