I was wondering if anyone is using this av or suite. How heavy is it, does it slow down browsing and has anyone seen any tests (detection/removal) of spyware or malware?

    thanks

Detection improved of late, but it slows down a lot of systems we have tested it on. Try it before you buy it.

I ve tested it on an XP SP 2 machine 2 weeks ago.I ve used it 3 weeks along with Jetico 2 and Comodo Memory Firewall 2 on a machine with KT 333 chipset ,Nvidia 7600 GS,1Gb ram,Audigy 2 with KX drivers.
Has a good rate of detection on the newer viruses over the 2005 year.Older viruses from 2004 ,2003 were passed over. There is a compatibility issue with Jetico 2 so you need to install Jetico 2 over Trend Micro not viceversa because one module hangs at start up or the whole installation may take 10 minutes. Its rather hogging whan scaning but fast.It takes a lot of ram while runining. On the same machine i ve used KAV and BD 2008 and they never got so much phisical ram.The phisical ram load was around 350(without scanning) while with KAV or BD i had under 300Mb.For BD i got even as low as 205-211megs.
While you use your computer you may encounter while you click the refresh button some kind of lag.
If you have a powerfull hardware you will be well protected.
Test the trial ,give it a try.

No such peformance problems here, I agree on the memory usage, however on a system with 1GB or more it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Maybe you like to try the new 8.7 engine, with improved peformance, working nice here:

Well I may give TM a try. The Pro version looked like it may be ok for a laptop. I also saw this OS Protection beta that has some start up scan and firewall enhancement. Weird it says it is a Vista firewall enhancer but does not do anything to the Vista firewall except recommend that it remain off.

I beta tested this product but indeed it is slow. Also it delays the startup of Windows.

I've used the AV 2008 and the only problem I found is that takes up to 40 seconds to start on reboot after all the other start up programs are run and dandy. The gray tray icon spins and spins...otherwise it seems a fine program.

When it came out, I tried it on different machines with different results. Some were slowed alot. But the latest builds are running very smooth and the novices that i recommend it to, likes it alot because its easy to use and are very reliable :thumb:

Version 16.1 was released a few days ago, and is once again smoother then previous 16.x build. Also the new 8.7 engine wich is now in beta works very smooth. The scan speed improved (while it's more thorough), and the virtual memory usage dropped around 20mb.

When it comes out of beta I will test it. It for me and my testing routine has never, ever been fast or smooth, so this will be a first if it is.

Sputnik, you have gotten me interested in TM again (I did use it for 3 years as a tester). TMIS Pro felt heavy on my machine when I tried it a couple of months ago.

I still have my PUG license so I might try it out again.

when microsoft use mcafee engine in hotmail i got problem's(Mcafee Pick The Virus) sending virus sample's to AV lab's
so i alway's zip and password it
and when microsoft are using trend micro in hotmail scanner never detect a single malware very simple zip the virus and send it to AV Lab's(No Notification from Trend Micro)
i think it's time for Microsoft Live OneCare To Take It's Duty In Hotmail

I got mixed results from TMIS Pro. On my laptop--Pentium Duo Core 1.76GHz, 2 GB RAM--it worked ok. But on my desktop--P4 3.0GHz HT, 3 GB RAM--it was sluggish, especially the GUI. I guess it depends on the hardware on how well it will work on a computer.

Proactivelover, I wondered the same thing about Hotmail not using Forefront/OneCare for it's protection. Maybe they are under a contract and will implement their own protection when it expires.

I decided to go back to OC (once again). It is light on both of my computers, webpages load faster, depending on the test it is getting 93-96% detection rate, I am impressed by the graph on Prevx's site where OC scores very high on new malware detection, the integration into the OS, and it's printer sharing capability. It is far from perfect (lack of backup options) but it fits my needs right now.

Glad to hear the expert confirming this!

    @midway40
Did you test with or without the new 8.7 beta engine?
