that I couldn't tell you as I have'nt configured it for my mail client ( thunderbird ) and my IP has a spam filter that really kicks so I haven't been in a hurry to set it up.

the spam filter works well once configured for thunderbird, which is what I use, In IE it's a little less accurate it seems they use 2 different rule sets for each function, the scan is above average & F-Secure is what made me more interested in other AV's etc as it found a few errors on the main system. I never see it put a drag on the system & apps open & run freely and not a mem hog really compared to other Suites. I'd suggest this over the big 2 & the firewall is easy to setup...

All I can say is I emailed the senior vice president in charge of sales and support of the company and got a response within thirty minutes. I have never contacted support but if the contact I had with the company is any indication it is probably pretty good.

How bout System Control. It flashes me whenever a registry change is about to happen with the allow/ block option.F-secure seems to sit deeper in your computer than most AV's.Could be why i had trouble installing Prevx1.Any other thoughts on this?.

i found out the 6-month MS trial is not the same as the F-Secure 2006 suite....it's just AV, no firewall or other goodies.

so the real FS2006 suite has a 30 day trial and is currently $39 with their 50% off....trying to snag customers before KIS2006? :)

    Thanx Namor for the links.
However, I notice some ambiguity - the link clearly states:
    Downloaded Mail-In Rebate info states:

i found out the cause of my slowdown opening windows, it was BOClean with the checkmark on Automatically scan download file (when opening).
My Downloads was heavily loaded w/ tons of files and BOClean was scanning it everytime i opened it. i unchecked that box and everything is fine now.

I use F-Secure Internet Security 2006 and from use in the real world I would say it actually performs a bit better than PC World results suggest. This is only my educated opinion not a scientific proven fact ;)

For those of you who use f-secure how good is its detection rate and also I am presuming this is a pure AV software and not a security suite where it also includes a FW.

Also is F-Secure from Norway ?

detection rate is almost identical to Kaspersky since they use the KAV AV engine. FIS2006 uses about 9 different scanning engines including their Blacklight rootkit detector. It's a full suite like the other security suites out there. need a fast machine to use it at max settings

F-secure uses five scan engines including the blacklight engine.

. F-Secure says its real-time protection and five scan engines--two for viruses and one each for spyware, rootkits, and heuristics--account for the overall slow scan speed.

It's interesting that with all those engines the detection rates are essentially identical to KAV on AV Comparatives.

Could there be a difference in detection of rootkits?

Well, I also installed F-Secure Internet Security (FIS) today.
    1. It didn't like my ZoneAlarm Free, so I uninstalled that one.
    2. It didn't like my AVG Free either, so I uninstalled that one too and I thought that was the end of complaints.
    3. But it didn't like my Ad-Aware SE Personal either, so I uninstalled that one too.
    4. I didn't want to wait for its reaction on Spybot S&D, so I uninstalled that one too.

This was my very first security suite and I suppose that each suite will react like that.
I was lucky I had to remove only freewares and not paid softwares to make room for FIS. :)
