I tried it....does what it says. If you want, just engage 1 change at a time to see its effect. If you make all changes at once and something goes wrong, you end up reverting the changes one at a time. Its not really a hips as it makes changes to your windows-settings to make it more secure. Its safe to use, give it a try.....

It's a hardening tool rather than a HIPS.
    Haven't used it, though.

I use Samurai and it does what its supposed to, so no complaints.

Some settings can break things though, so read the descriptions and dont apply all the tweaks at once.

Not anti malware mem scan or file scanner.

A nifty hardening tool: regtweaks and image control settings.
    Read the 32 steps paper.

Yes. :thumb: Works as it promises. No issues here.

    WSFuser,
What does Samurai offer (feature-wise) over SafeXP, BugOff and Seconfig?

Hi acr1965, Samurai (thread here) is a hardening tool with a host intrusion prevention.
It has a good popup blocker, hardens by changing services and reg settings and prevents driver installs.

Well Samurai changes different settings that the tools you mentioned and as Meriadoc said, it has a popup blocker and it can prompt you for driver (rootkit) installs.

Not really an alternative, since it is more of a signature based product, while Samuri is more of a hardening tool + HIPS

Here is a nice thread from a bit longer ago that discusses rumor that the app may contain some stolen code or something, you read and decide.

    Cheers,
