    Hi,

Does anyone know about the command 'compcln'? o_O

I heard that it cleans all the leftovers, which you get after installing Vista SP2.

In SP1, they say it was 'vsp1cln'.

I'm not sure if this information is right.
However, it seems to be trustworthy.

    Does anyone know about this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
warning after running Compcln you cannot uninstall SP2.
If you accept that follow the steps below:
type cmd in to the search box. right click run as administrator.
    type Compcln.exe
accept the warning i think you type Y and press enter to accept and you should reclaim roughly 2Gb of hard disc space.

ive done this process on my computer and it was successfull.

I recommend anyone not having issues with SP2 to just run it. I've never in my life had to uninstall a Service Pack.

    Hello Elapsed/Lodore

You don't happen to understand my problem here do you?

Maybe it's not a problem, but I'd really like to understand it...

    Sorry to cross-reference threads.

    Thanks

    Hi,
Do I have to type in 'vsp1cln' in SP1 and then install SP2 and then type in 'compcln' again? Or do I just have to install SP2 over SP1 and only type in 'compcln'?
    Thanks in advance.

    Interesting question. Probably the former.

Yep, I think I'd rather reformat than uninstall a service pack...

I take a full backup before a service pack, so "backout" is simple; just a restore.

    Hello Gaeko

"The Windows Component Clean Tool (COMPCLN.exe) can be used to remove the files that are archived after Windows Vista SP2 or Windows Server 2008 SP2 is applied. It also removes the files that were archived after Windows Vista SP1 was applied, if they are found on the system. Running this tool is optional."

    from here

I used them both, and they seemed to work as advertised.
