    Windows XP.

I've got Windows power management set to turn off hard disk if idle for 15 minutes but the room where I have this computer is noisy and I can't hear it most of the time. When I feel the HD area on the case it feels like it might be spinning but I've got two HDs and I'm not sure if it's the other one. I thought it might handy to have some software that would show the status of individual HDs. Anybody know of such a thing? Thanks.

There was some software that prevented external hard drives from spinning down.

That had a status field which showed whether it was working or not.

Cant rememeber the name maybe nosleephd ?

Hey trott, thanks for the suggestion. Tried NoSleepHD but it doesn't show if the drive itself is on or off, just the nosleep mode.

DKHarddrive light has a led icon in a window which shows activity.
Also there is an activity log that shows files changing.

Doesnt show its off but does show activity.

Maybe one of the Windows SMART status apps reports whether the disk is online or not.
