Antivirus Scanengine

    I was just intreseted in Antivirus scan engines

    how do they work.

    every year they make a new product for example kaspersky. this year they will be releasing 6.0. Will it have a diffrent scanengine. abd if they do wat are the improvments/changeso_O

    Take a look at Technodrome's informed Thread.
    All future scan engines are modifications to improve the present one. There is generally not a complete engine change.

    In general, improvements are seen in the speed of the engine, unpacking ability and the detection of new malware threats.

    Some of the big AV companies list the major changes to the new engine well before release as part of a beta-testing program. However, with some of the smaller AV's, the changes are not apparent until a change-log is put out at the time of the new version release.
